Adding and Removing Artboards | Guideit

Guideit allows you to edit your generated brand guidelines directly inside Adobe Illustrator, including adding or removing pages (artboards).


  • Deleting an artboard removes that page from the document
  • Page numbers update automatically after adding or removing pages and then clicking Apply Changes
  • You must make sure to use the Artboard panel in illustrator to re-arrange correctly after adding or removing pages

How to add a page / artboard

After generating your brand guidelines, you can add a new artboard/page and then click Apply Changes inside Guideit.

This will automatically update all page numbers throughout the document.

You must make sure your artboards are arranged in the correct order using the Artboards panel in Adobe Illustrator.

This ensures:

  • The document previews in the correct page order
  • The page numbers appear in the correct sequence

Steps

  1. Open your Guideit file in Adobe Illustrator
  2. Select the Artboard Tool
  3. Create a new artboard
  4. Arrange the artboards in the correct order using the Artboards panel
  5. Click Apply Changes in Guideit
  6. Save the file

How to remove a page / artboard

You can generate your brand guidelines normally, then delete any artboard/page you no longer need.

After deleting the artboard:

  • Save the file
  • The page numbers will automatically update
  • You do not need to manually change page numbering

Steps

  1. Open your Guideit file in Adobe Illustrator
  2. Select the Artboard Tool
  3. Click the artboard/page you want to remove
  4. Delete the artboard
  5. Save the file

Important to know

You must make sure your artboards are arranged in the correct order using the Artboards panel in Adobe Illustrator.

The Artboards panel be found in Illustrator by going to: Windows > Artboards

This ensures:

  • The document previews in the correct page order
  • The page numbers appear in the correct sequence
