How to Add Brand Colors
When generating brand guidelines with GuideIt, you can add up to 6 brand colors using three different methods. This gives you flexibility depending on how you prefer to work in Adobe Illustrator.
Method 1: Paste the Color Code Directly
This is the fastest way to add a brand color.
Steps
- Copy your HEX color code.
-
Paste the code directly into the color input box in GuideIt.
You must click Generate or Apply Changes for the color codes to appear in your brand guidelines.
Method 2: Use the Color Picker HEX Field
You can also enter the color using Illustrator’s color picker.
Steps
- Click the color icon next to the color field.
- The Color Picker window will open.
- Paste your HEX color code into the HEX field.
- Click OK to apply the color.
Method 3: Use the Eyedropper Tool
This method, which uses the eyedropper tool inside the Color Picker menu, is only available in the latest versions of Adobe Illustrator.
You can sample a color directly from artwork.
Steps
- Click the color icon to open the Color Picker.
- Select the Eyedropper tool.
- Click a color anywhere on your screen to sample it.
Adobe Illustrator may sometimes prevent the eyedropper tool in the Color Picker from selecting the correct color. If this happens, try restarting Adobe Illustrator and your computer. If the issue continues, please use Method 1 or Method 2 to add your brand colors instead.
