How to Search for a Font

When generating brand guidelines with GuideIt, you can easily choose the fonts used throughout your document directly in the Guideit plugin.

Step-by-Step

  1. Double-click the text inside the font input box

Double-click the text that appears inside the font text box.

  2. Highlight the font name

Once selected, the font name will be highlighted in blue.

  3. Start typing the font name

Begin typing the name of the font you want to use.

Illustrator will automatically search for matching fonts installed on your computer.

If the font selection does not appear to work, try typing the font name anyway, as the search input bar can sometimes be invisible in Adobe Illustrator.

  1. Select the font

Click the font name from the list.

  1. Choose the font weight

Illustrator will then show the available font weights (such as Regular, Medium, or Bold).

Select the weight you want to use in your brand guidelines.

Font Availability

All fonts that are installed on your system and available in Adobe Illustrator should appear in the font selection. If a font does not appear in the list, make sure the font is properly installed on your computer and then restart Adobe Illustrator if necessary.

If you're having issues with searching for a font, please restart Adobe Illustrator.
