How to Change Font Sizes

To change font sizes in brand guidelines:

Open the Layers panel → Click the target button on a text layer → Adjust font size in the Properties panel.

Hold Shift to deselect specific text if needed.

This applies to:

  • Headers
  • Subheaders
  • Body text
  • Footnotes
  • Typography showcase pages

Step-by-Step: Change Font Size

  1. Open the Layers Panel
    • Go to Window → Layers in Illustrator.

Locate the Text Layer You Want to Edit

    • Example: Header, Subheader, Body, or Footnotes.

  2. Click the Target Button
    • In the Layers panel, click the small circle (target icon) next to the layer.
    • This selects all text objects inside that layer at once.

  3. Adjust Font Size
    • Open the Properties Panel.
    • Increase or decrease the Font Size value.
    • All selected text will update at the same time.

Important: Typography Pages

On typography showcase pages:

  • Increasing font size may cause text to extend beyond the page.

If a font becomes too large:

    • Hold Shift
    • Click specific text objects to deselect them
    • Then continue adjusting the remaining text

This allows you to fine-tune individual font samples.

Best Practice

  • Make adjustments per text category (Header, Body, etc.) for consistency.
  • Avoid overscaling typography samples beyond readable layout limits.
  • Always review page spacing after resizing.
