How to use Bento Generator
Bento Generator helps you create structured, aesthetic bento-style layouts directly in Adobe Illustrator, perfect for showcasing brand design work with clarity and confidence.

Step By Step Tutorial
Step 1: Draw a Rectangle

Use the Rectangle Tool in Illustrator to draw a box, any size you like.
This will act as your bento grid base.
Tip: Larger rectangles allow more flexibility for section layouts.
Step 2: Pick a Bento Style

- Select the rectangle you just created
- Click any Bento Style button in the extension
A layout will be applied instantly
You can experiment with different base layouts to fit your project style.
Step 3: Customise the Grid

Head to the Customise Tab to make adjustments:
- Section Count – change how many sections appear in the grid
- Corner Radius – round the edges of the boxes
- Spacing – adjust the padding between sections
These settings help you match your brand or presentation aesthetic.
Step 4: Shuffle & Finalise

- Click Shuffle to explore layout variations based on your settings
- When you’re happy, click Finalise to lock the layout and make it editable
Once finalised, the layout becomes grouped, ready for image or content placement.
Step 5: Add images

Want to drop images into your bento layout? Easy:
- Place your image over any section of the bento grid
- Select both the image and the section
Right-click and choose Make Clipping Mask
Repeat for each section to complete your layout.
