Duplicate Gridlines

You may notice duplicate grid lines appearing when generating a construction grid with Logo Grid Generator.

Example:

This can look like:

  • A grid line appearing directly on top of another
  • Extra lines very close together
  • Unexpected or overlapping grid results

Why this happens

This is not an issue with the tool.

Logo Grid Generator only creates grids based on the shapes and paths in your logo.

If there are overlapping or hidden elements, the tool will include them in the result.

Common causes

This usually happens when your logo contains:

  • A shape placed directly on top of another shape
  • A line positioned very close to another line
  • Invisible paths (no fill or no stroke)
  • Duplicate elements
  • Gridline Sensitivity could be set to Level 2 which shows gridlines for curved shapes

How to resolve this

  1. Select your logo in Illustrator
  2. Check for overlapping or duplicate elements
  3. Remove any unnecessary shapes or paths
  4. Go to View > Outline and delete invisible objects (no fill / no stroke)
  5. Clean up your artwork and regroup

Then generate again.

Important to know

  • The tool only generates based on the vectors provided
  • These results are caused by hidden or overlapping elements in your logo
  • Cleaning your logo will resolve the issue
